Award-winning Phelps Golf Design and Golf Works, Inc. have developed a course that offers
unique course features strategically placed to maximize your enjoyment of both the game as
well as the panoramic views of our surrounding mountains and mesas.
Features include:
Play from 5800 yards to over 7300 yards to challenge all golfing abilities
Slope rating is expected to be in the 140s from championship tees and varied for other abilities
Sculpted teeing grounds - sometimes as many as seven on each hole
Eighty-nine uniquely designed bunkers scattered through the course in beautiful clover leaf designs - some connected by strips of lush, green grass
Seven beautifully designed lakes, four of which come into play
Hole 6
From the back tee, this is a 450 yard par 4 that demands an accurate placement of your tee shot. Stray either left or right and, if a sand bunker doesn’t catch you, you will have a difficult time seeing your way to the green as you snake your way down the fairway.
Hole 7
This 435 yard par 4 from the back tees lets you catch your breath a bit, but if the drive or second shot wanders left, trouble lurks. The vista down the fairway to Turtleback Mountain and Mimms Lake is spectacular.
Hole 8
A downhill par 4 measuring 420 yards from the back tee plays a bit shorter depending on the wind. Stay out of the bunker on the right front of the green or we may have to send out the camels to rescue you.
Hole 10
A long par 5 of 600 yards from the back tee will make you think you are in Florida. The big hitters will be tempted to “go for it” on their second shot over the water, but the shot must be accurate and long enough. The rest of us can play the “normal” fairway and enjoy the scenery.
Hole 11
A back tee of 240 yards will test those who want to play the “whole course”. The prevailing wind should help. Some of us may prefer the island tee unless being surrounded by water causes some nervousness. There are plenty of tees to fit your game.
Hole 14
An up-hill par 5 measuring 540 yards from the back will play longer. Keep the ball under control, however, or you may find the topic back at the clubhouse at the end of your round will be about “the tree” which guards the right side approach of the green.
Hole 16
Not a very long hole at 395 yards from the “regular” back tee (425 from the top of the mesa), this green will likely cause some expletives deleted. Pay close attention to where the pin is located as some putts on this one will create havoc.
Hole 17
Quite a view of Turtleback Mountain! A par 3 with a shot over water and over a beach bunker is a challenge to the best of us. A high arching shot is needed to hold this green.
